Description
SANOS® Companion Animal Veterinary Dental Sealant
VOHC® Accepted — Helps Control Plaque & Tartar

SANOS® acts like a liquid bandage, sealing the subgingival line (gingival sulcus) against plaque formation. Professionally applied in your veterinary practice, it dries clear and rapidly — extending the benefits of a professional dental cleaning for up to six months with just one easy application.
No take-home follow-up is required by the pet owner. The application stays in the hands of the veterinary professional, ensuring correct and timely treatment every time.
Key Benefits
- Liquid Bandage Technology — Seals the gingival sulcus against plaque formation. Designed to allow water and oxygen to pass through.
- 6-Month Protection — One application every six months greatly extends the benefits of a professional dental cleaning — clinically proven in both dogs and cats.
- No Client Compliance Needed — No take-home reapplication kit required. The professional application eliminates the need for daily brushing compliance, which is as low as 1%.
- Quick & Easy Application — Non-waxy formula applies easily with the included brush applicators. Dries in seconds. Can be applied to slightly wet surfaces, though dry is optimal.
- Safe & Purpose-Built — Made from specially designed non-toxic polymers developed specifically for veterinary dentistry. Optimal for subgingival application.
- Wellness Program Integration — Apply at the time of spay/neuter or any dental cleaning to start clients on the path to ongoing dental wellness.
Clinical Information
Dental problems in dogs and cats are often caused by plaque at the gingival sulcus, leading to irreversible periodontal disease. While professional dental cleaning is essential, plaque starts to reattach to the teeth within hours if no preventive care is administered afterward.

With owner compliance for daily brushing at approximately 1%, SANOS® provides a reliable, professionally controlled solution. Applied immediately following a dental cleaning, the self-hardening barrier sealant helps protect "difficult to reach" areas — particularly the caudal teeth — for up to six months.

How It Works
A thick coating of SANOS® is applied subgingivally, ensuring full contact with the gums, gingival sulcus, and tooth enamel under and adjacent to the gum line. The transparent film is dried with a dental air syringe, cures in place, and gradually thins over time as non-toxic solvents wash out of the polymer. SANOS® may become translucent to white opaque within weeks to months — this is normal and should not be mistaken for plaque.
Application Tips
Apply a thick film to observed trouble spots, especially the carnassial upper 4th premolar (208) and upper 3rd premolar (207). SANOS® is designed for prevention of plaque and tartar in the gingival sulcus — not the visible cosmetic area of the crown. It will remain under the gingival margin and continue to work for extended periods.
