Frequently asked questions
What is a periodontal probe used for in veterinary dentistry?
A periodontal probe measures the depth of the gingival sulcus or periodontal pockets around each tooth, helping diagnose and monitor periodontal disease. The shepherd's hook explorer end detects calculus and surface defects both supra- and subgingivally.
Is the iM3 Sapphira Periodontal Probe autoclavable?
Yes. The iM3 Sapphira Periodontal Probe is fully autoclavable to 134°C. The laser-marked depth calibrations are designed to resist fading after repeated autoclave cycles.
Why does this instrument have a matte finish?
The matte finish eliminates the micro-reflections that can obstruct the surgical field under operatory lighting, improving visibility and reducing eye strain during intraoral work.
How is the iM3 Sapphira Probe different from standard probes?
The iM3 Sapphira Probe is hand-crafted in Germany using high-quality stainless steel. The laser-marked calibrations resist fading through repeated autoclaving, ensuring accurate pocket depth readings over the long term.
